Taylor Farmer’s Market Opens At Plein Air

Taylor, MS – The inaugural Taylor
Farmer’s Market opened the first weekend in June to a huge
crowd of excited customers.
“We wanted to create a different kind of market;
something that was as much a gathering spot for the
community as much as a market” said Michelle McNally,
Director of the Taylor Farmer’s Market.
Located between two large pecan trees
on the Plein Air town square, the market will run every
Saturday morning from June through October.
Hours are 8a.m. until noon.
In addition to traditional farmers hawking tomatoes,
squash, zucchini, eggs, bread and more, the market features
a furniture maker, jewelry designer,
a merchant selling plants,
musical instruments, and t-shirts.
Then there is the live music.
Each Saturday a different act will entertain
customers from the back of a flat-bed truck.
The first act was well-known Taylor musician Donovan
McCain wailing away with his unique style and array of
instruments.
“That’s the whole idea.
Come shop, eat, drink coffee – then grab a seat on
the grass under the shade and listen to some music while you
visit with your neighbor” McNally added.
Plein Air is a traditional neighborhood
of wood built homes, front porches, and tin roofs.
Home to the 2008 Southern Living Idea House, the
neighborhood also features a vibrant town square with
restaurants, offices, antique shops and more.
